Spiral wound gasket

Advantage:
Spiral gaskets have the ability to reliably seal when there is a fluctuation in load caused by variable working pressure and temperature, temperature expansion of the flange surfaces, rotating flanges, deformation of the bolts, etc.

Construction:
The main element of the seal is the spiral core. A V-shaped metal strip and a strip of soft material are spirally wound.
For mechanical strength, several layers of metal strip at the beginning and end of the spiral are spot welded. The constant tensile force during coiling of the helix determines the uniform thickness of the structure.
There are 8 types of garnishes, and they are added to the main spiral part outer and/or inner ring.

Standard thicknesses:
3.2mm, 4.5mm and 7.2mm

Materials of the metal strip:
1.4301(304),1.4401(316),1.4404(316L),1.4541(321),1.4571(316 Ti)

Materials of the soft tape:
Graphite (up to 600˚С), Teflon PTFE (up to 260˚С), Ceramics (up to 800˚С), etc.

Inner ring material:
Stainless steels, such as those on the metal band

Outer ring material:
Carbon steel with powder coating. and
stainless steels, such as those on the metal band

Types of spiral wound gaskets:
CRIR – with inner and outer metal ring
RIR – with inner metal ring
CR – with outer metal ring
R – only the spiral part
